2020 - Immersive Atlanta: Lunar Vacation, Mattiel, Omni and more unite to “Feed The Fam”
As the past pools into a yawning pit of nostalgia and the future grows into an amorphous monster of unknown eventualities, the present seems continually stretched and squeezed into a thin line. It’s a narrow margin we all walk simply because to cease moving feels like its own form of terror. As we argue about the work that needs to be done in the world and reminisce about better times (the definition of which foments its own controversy), there still beats that quiet and wonderful human desire for beauty, meaning, and community.
Enter the Feed the Fam, a live streaming food, art, and music festival organized by Irrelevant Music, Strange Shapes (fka Deer Bear Wolf), and Debonair Films. It’s an ambitious effort to energize and encourage the local scene while raising money for the families of Atlanta hospitality workers via ATL Family Meal.
2019 - The Mainline: Irrelevant Fest Feature
Irrelevant Music: a locally owned and operated record label and promotional company run by Kyle Swick. Each year Irrelevant hosts a festival, 2019 marked Swick’s fourth consecutive year of Irrelevant Fest, featuring an array of genres across five bills on four nights between 529 and the Earl. The lineup was curated to showcase the levels of explosiveness happening in the perimeter—such as ATL heavyweights glam-punk outfit Material Girls, R&B/hip-hop duo the Queendom, Latinx expression punks Yukons, up-and-coming post-punk curators Riboflavin, and a long-awaited return of post-punk noise outfit Lyonnais—but also invited touring acts (such Patois Counselors of Charlotte, Gustaf of NYC, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat of Baltimore), leveling Atlanta up to be a destination for bands on a national level. And even better? Not a single night was more than $25 to attend—the opening night was a $5 cover. Not only does Irrelevant deliver quality, but it makes it accessible. While the cover is cheap, the talent is not..
2019 - Immersive Atlanta: Irrelevant Music Festival Announces Line-Up And Dates
Irrelevant Fest, once again organized and presented by Kyle Swick, is back in July with a streamlined look for 2019. The fest, anchored between East Atlanta staples 529 and the EARL, boasts the same focus on local heavy hitters and nationally obscure icons that made past iterations bizarrely educational experiences…

2018 - Immersive Atlanta: Irrelevant Music Expands to Five Days, Announces Another Killer Line-Up
The lineup for the third annual Irrelevant Music Fest (July 18-22) is here and it is out of control. What started out mostly as an excuse for a bunch of local bands to hang out and complain about all the things that musicians complain about, has grown into its own, filling a critical niche in the Atlanta music scene, and surpassing the expectations of fest creator and Irrelevant Productions boss Kyle Swick. As the name implies, Irrelevant Fest was initially designed to dig through the gutters of EAV and pick out all the dark, weird, and wild bands that are completely off the radar of other “local” festivals, but this year especially, the shows will be more expansive, in part because the festival has increased from a three-day to a five-day event, including a dance party at the Bakery.
2018 - Open Ears Music: Irrelevant Fest Night 2 Recap and Photos
Irrelevant Music Fest started three years ago as a way to counteract some of the other Atlanta-based festivals that primarily focus on larger touring acts with a festival that showcases some of the best up and coming artists that Atlanta has to offer. The third iteration this year expanded to five nights, including not only an incredible lineup of Atlanta-based artists, but also bands touring from across the country. We made it out to the second night on July 17th at 529 in East Atlanta Village, which also doubled as the Album Release Show for Atlanta’s glam punks, Material Girls.

2017 - Immersive Atlanta: Irrelevant Music Fest Returns, Announces Bonkers Lineup
When promoter Kyle Swick of Irrelevant Music organized the inaugural Irrelevant Music Fest last year, it was a labor borne of both love and discontent. “The idea behind this festival sort of came about via the the frustration of seeing all these huge corporate festivals popping up in Atlanta, and not seeing a ton of local love on the bills,” Swick told us in an interview. “I wanted to do a fest for Atlanta music, about Atlanta music, and affordable to local music fans and artists alike.”
